Hydraulic Motors: Safety Precautions and Instructions
Hydraulic pumps and motors can make accomplishing a wide array of tasks and functions simpler, easier, and much faster. The use of hydraulic systems is found in manufacturing, automotive, construction, agriculture, and just about every industry. Even healthcare uses various forms of hydraulics!
When working with hydraulic systems, it is important to take some safety precautions and only operate the system in accordance with its intended purposes.
Prior to engaging the system, do an initial inspection to look for loose fittings, leaks, broken hoses, and so on.
If you notice fluid dripping from the system while it is off, do not turn it on.
Wear the appropriate safety gear, if required, such as gloves, goggles, hard hats, etc.
Never place your hands, arms, or other body parts into or near moving parts of the system.
Do not continue to operate the system if something goes wrong or it loses pressure.
Use proper isolation procedures before starting maintenance on the system.
Educate and train operators how to use the system correctly.
Never leave the system running unattended.
Keep in mind, these tips are just a general overview of safety precautions. You should always review explicit safety precautions for your own work environment.

Precautions for the use of hydraulic motors
1. When the inertia of the driven part is large, if it is required to brake or reverse or drop in a short period of time, a safety valve buffer should be set in the oil return line to prevent a sudden hydraulic shock from causing damage.
2. When using a fixed amount motor, if you want to start and stop smoothly, you should use the necessary pressure control or flow control methods in the circuit design.
3. When the hydraulic motor is used as a lifting tool or a power part of a walking device, a speed limit valve must be installed to prevent heavy objects from falling quickly or overspeed when the walking mechanism such as a vehicle goes downhill, causing serious accidents.
4. Since the hydraulic motor always leaks, the inlet and outlet of the hydraulic motor are closed for braking. It will still slip slowly. When braking is required for a long time, a separate brake to prevent rotation should be installed.
5. When starting at full load, you should pay attention to the value of the starting torque of the hydraulic motor, because the starting torque of the hydraulic motor is less than the rated torque, if you ignore it, the working mechanism will not be able to operate.
6. Since the oil return back pressure (outlet pressure) of the hydraulic motor is higher than the atmospheric pressure, the oil drain pipe of the motor must be led back to the oil tank separately and cannot be connected with the oil return pipe of the hydraulic motor.
Troubleshooting
Serial number | Fault phenomenon | The Reason | Exclude |
1
|
The motor does not rotate |
Hydraulic pump does not start | Turn on the hydraulic pump |
Insufficient oil in the tank | oil
Directional valve in neutral | Open the directional valve
System overflow valve fully open | The system pressure is adjusted to the specified value
Motor torque is not enough | Replace the motor
2 |
There is abnormal noise when the motor is running |
There is air in the hydraulic system | Find out the reason for the intake air and discharge the air in the oil |
Vacuum | Increase fuel supply
Motor failure | Replace the motor
Support bearing is broken | Replace bearing
3 |
Motor leakage |
Damaged seal | Replace the seal |
Parts have pores, trachoma, cracks, etc. | Replacement parts
4 |
Motor heat |
Hydraulic oil temperature is too high | Increase cooling capacity |
Low motor efficiency | Replace wearing parts
Abnormal wear | Replace the motor
5 |
Increased oil leakage at the outer drain hole | Abnormal wear at the distribution shaft | Replacement parts |
Wear of the needle column group of the cycloid wheel stator body |
